Best Friends Possum Smith-Disilvio and Neisha Phipps - the pair behind the paintings.

Neisha Phipps and Possum Smith Disilvio are contemporary artists based in Boorloo/Perth, Australia, who have been painting collaboratively for five years.

Their collective practise is often large scale works, depicting creatures and animals in abstract landscapes. Rooted in Outsider and Art Brut traditions, their work is bright, colourful, textural, energetic and emotional.

For Neisha and Possum, art making and creative expression exists as a rhythm of self care and processing. The work exists at such a large scale because for Neisha and Possum - painting is sensory play. They do a lot of finger painting, scribbling, and put a lot of physical energy into the way to apply their mediums.

Neisha and Possums practise is a story of friendship. Where two people’s shared experiences of hardship, mental illness, family and domestic violence, child abuse, addiction, queerness, psychiatric illness, autism, neuro-divergence, death, love and life become the muse for beautiful artwork.
